{"id":36166,"date":"2023-06-14T20:44:26","date_gmt":"2023-06-14T20:44:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/?p=36166"},"modified":"2025-04-28T12:16:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T12:16:11","slug":"elastic-email-spf-and-dkim-configuration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/elastic-email-spf-and-dkim-configuration\/","title":{"rendered":"Elastic Email SPF and DKIM Configuration: Step by Step"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This instructional article will demonstrate the <em>Elastic Email <\/em>configuration process of Sender Policy Framework (SPF), DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) Signatures to ensure <em>Elastic Email <\/em>passes the DMARC alignment check and eliminates spam from your domain and increases security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" id=\"spf-yes\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-spf-configuration-process\"><strong>SPF Configuration Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure the emails from <em>Elastic Email <\/em>are sent on behalf of your domain, we need to create or update your existing SPF record by following the steps below:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to your <a href=\"https:\/\/elasticemail.com\/account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elastic Email portal<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Settings&gt;Domains&gt;Manage Domains <\/strong>(You notice a screen as shown below):<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"584\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/1.png 584w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/1-300x98.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Click on \u201cStart Verification\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. After noticing this screen, click on \u201cContinue\u201d and head to your DNS Zone<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"872\" height=\"403\" src=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/4.png 872w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/4-300x139.png 300w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/4-768x355.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 872px) 100vw, 872px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"972\" height=\"879\" src=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/5.png 972w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/5-300x271.png 300w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/5-768x695.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 972px) 100vw, 972px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For this step, you can also easily create the SPF Record by using our <a href=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/tools\/spf-record-generator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SPF Generator Tool<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Add include:<strong><em>_spf.elasticemail.com<\/em><\/strong> in the include:__ section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Choose the Policy (The options are: Fail (Not Compliant will be rejected), SoftFail (Not Compliant will be accepted but marked) and Neutral (Mails will be probably accepted)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. When you have made followed the steps, click on the \u201cGenerate\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. Copy the provided <em>Elastic Email <\/em>SPF record and navigate to your DNS provider (CloudFlare, Godaddy, etc.) and create a TXT Record. <strong>We\u2019ll be using CloudFlare for<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>this example.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"925\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/6.png 925w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/6-300x147.png 300w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/6-768x376.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 925px) 100vw, 925px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>11. Click on \u201cSave\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. Head back to ELastic Email portal and click on the &#8220;Verify record&#8221; button to continue<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/><strong>Important Note: <\/strong>If everything was set up correctly, you should be at a confirmation step of the verification process. This informs you that you can now use any email address related to your domain to send emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cDefault sender\u201d Note: <\/strong>When there is a default sender set on the account, emails are still branded using the default sender, even if sent from a non-verified domain. If there is no default sender set, and an email is sent from a non-verified domain, then elasticemail.com is used. Also, if a default sender is set, then sub accounts will inherit the ability to use the main account&#8217;s default verified sender domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" id=\"dkim-yes\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DKIM Configuration Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to authenticate Elastic Email by DKIM, please follow the steps below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a new TXT Record in your DNS Zone, by the following information:<br \/>Host-Name:<em> api._domainkey<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Value: <em>k=rsa;t=s;p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCbmGbQMzYeMvxwtNQoXN0waGYaciuKx8mtMh5czguT4EZlJXuCt6V+l56mmt3t68FEX5JJ0q4ijG71BGoFRkl87uJi7LrQt1ZZmZCvrEII0YO4mp8sDLXC8g1aUAoi8TJgxq2MJqCaMyj5kAm3Fdy2tzftPCV\/lbdiJqmBnWKjtwIDAQAB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br \/><\/em><strong>Note: <\/strong>We\u2019ll be using CloudFlare for this example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"944\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/7.png 944w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/7-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/easydmarc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/7-768x364.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 944px) 100vw, 944px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Click on \u201cSave\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to check if your SPF and DKIM records have been successfully verified by Elastic Email. Please head to your portal and if a blue star is present next to the domain name, it indicates that it&#8217;s set as a Default Sender.
