Key Findings at a Glance

DMARC Adoption in Australia
EasyDMARC conducted research in June 2024 and June 2025 to assess DMARC adoption in Australia:
- Coverage increased from 9.89% to 26.34%
- 70% of domains with DMARC use a non-enforcing policy (p=none)
- Only 16.9% of domains have adopted a strict "reject" policy
- Just 13.5% of Australian domains are fully protected against phishing
Global DMARC Trends
Analysis of top 1.8 million domains globally shows:
- Growing adoption from 27.3% in 2023 to 47.6% in 2025
- Many organizations remain at risk
- Misconfigured or overly permissive policies (p=none) leave domains vulnerable
- These issues can disrupt legitimate email flow

To truly reduce phishing and domain spoofing, organisations must move from passive monitoring to active enforcement. Email service providers play a critical role in encouraging or requiring stronger policies, such as quarantine or reject.
